Working in a large corporation for years I understand the importance of having an image to share on your corporate profile or corporate instant messaging system. This becomes even more important if you get a raise, promotion or take over a new team or department. What if you are looking to spruce up your online profile before you begin that search for a new career or coveted position at another company?
It can be tricky picking one you really like and one that represents who you really are. For many people this is the only representation of you to coworkers internationally and otherwise unavailable for face-to-face meetings. Maybe you really labored over the just right photo. Maybe you just took a cheesy webcam shot.
Here's a great way to avoid the hassle... get a short photo session just for head shots! This way you will be ready for the next online meeting or just ahead of the game in keeping your profiles up-to-date and fresh. Remember, no matter what, keep it classy!
Something I hadn't given a lot of thought about is how my customer would preview the photos that we had taken at a photo shoot. I often assumed, or was told, that they were too busy to meet in person to review the pictures. As a result, I would post the shots to a proof page for them to review and give me feedback on the ones that they wanted or had questions about.
To me this feels a bit impersonal. This may just be my preference but I would much rather talk to my client about what they see and get their honest feedback. There is so much we can do to a picture these days that there really aren't too many requests a client can make that we can't accommodate. I feel that without a face-to-face conversation I don't get the chance to make that person as happy as I possibly can.
What are your thoughts? Would you prefer face time with your photographer or do you like the online convenience?
Even little ones need their 'diva' moments.
A sensible way to keep toddlers entertained is to let them play with the much desired iPhone or iPad, for just a couple of minutes, while you prepare new outfits, make set changes or just take a coffee break yourself (photo shoots are hard work). Let them unwind.
The process of a photo shoot can be taxing and a little overstimulating for toddlers. Try to give them breaks and encourage time for them to be alone while you regroup. This will help them get excited about the next 'amazing' thing you are about to show them for the next set of pictures. And remember, once their tired (or unhappy) make a change. Even consider a re-take day. As your photographer, I want you to enjoy your photos and I want your children to enjoy the experience. We can always try, try again!
Happy kids and happy snapping :)
