What a great time was had by all in West Texas these past couple of weeks. That may sound strange when we had one person taken by ambulance from the Chisos Basin to Alpine Hospital, my hubby had a terrible head/chest cold and our friends little one ended up getting a late night visit from the local PA in Lajitas (no pneumonia thank goodness ).... but really, we did have a good time! The weather was very cold at times; tent camping at the Rio Grande Village (my fingers nearly froze off photographing Fort Davis at 6am). We did have the right clothes and very little precipitation so it worked out. We ended our trip with a short stay at Indian Lodge (so quaint) and the long drive home to Katy. The scenery was spectacular and the company 'FANTASTIC'! The food wasn't too shabby either (you are the mama)! When the food was eaten and the kidos put sleep, there were the most amazing 'star parties'. The blackest skies and a gorgeous milky way... too bad we couldn't figure out what we were looking at through the telescope! Ha, ha!
So.. we had grown ups, little people and babies, all making it an exciting, fun and memorable West Texas journey.
I can't wait until next year.
p.s. major props to The Veranda Inn for a warm soft bed and much needed hot showers. We will see ya'll again!
