I really debated about whether I wanted to stay in the Apple family and get the iPad2, mainly to use as an eReader and to use as an alternative to the Macbook. I was very discouraged by the price and so was weighing my options and trying to avoid the 'impulse' buy.
In the meantime I checked out the NOOK, since I love going to BN an have passed by it a few dozen times, I figured it deserved a consideration.
I have to say it has all of the same functionality and it's wifi speed is comparable to the original iPad. The price was the best part of all. It literally came in at 1/4 of the price of the iPad2 that I couldn't seem to get my hands on no matter how hard I tried.
The NOOK was the natural choice as an eReader and I have been pleasantly surprised so far. I'm able to download free books on Fridays as well as books from the local library in a variety of formats. I'm sure the iPad would have been easier to use when it came to downloads and data transfer, but alas, once I read the manual it all came together very nicely.
p.s. did I mention that my NOOK supports flash??? :( Sorry Apple but you lost me on this one.
